surfing the net, as you do...i was thinking of artists who i had seen at greenbelt festival over the years.....some of these i would probably never heard of had i not been exposed to their music via the fest....
one of my very favourites is a guy called steve apirana....i remember one of my first festivals, me and jules putting in a last dive into stuff on the monday afternoon, a nearly empty tent, and this big maori funny looking guy walks on stage, and makes me laugh, then he starts singing and i begin to cry........what a voice, and guitar player par excellence..........,....
have seen steve at a few festivals over the years, and met him once, he signed a beautiful leatherman guitar-strap for me..........he is a one-off, very very funny talented BHP......
anyway, i came across (old) news, via google, that steve was in a very nasty car crash last year......through google i followed his progress, and last update i could find was from december 2004 HERE
hopefully he is more on the long road to recovery and if anyone knows any more, please let me know nobby1965ATbtinternet.com (replace the AT with @)
